A Good Day for Art

 Private Lessons & Art Parties

In addition to the workshops and classes listed above I have many other half day, and one or two day workshops that may be privately taught or hosted at your home.

Private lessons are a good way to get the focused professional attention that you may require. They are also great option if you are working on art of your own and need critiquing and guidance. I am currently SKYPEing critiques with an out of town student, so distance is really no problem!

I am available to support your art endeavors where ever you may find yourself and help you move forward with your art work. Private lessons are also a good way to get  professional art education for your high school students, either public or home schooled, who may want individualized attention.

Art Parties is an exciting option if you have a group of friends who would like to meet and create art in a more personal setting. Please gather at least 4 adult friends - 15 + years  - for each class, with more friends optional as your space permits.
I  teach  workshops in   Artist Trading Cards, Process Painting, & Paper Doll Making.

Artist Trading Cards

Artist Trading Cards

Artist Trading Cards
– or ATCs – are miniature works of art – a handmade variation of the mass produced sports trading card. Each card is either a unique one-of-a-kind or part of a small edition. The cards are traded, not sold. All cards have equal value and they are traded with others who have also created their own cards. All art techniques are okay to use for ATCs and anyone can make them. Artists all over the world are now making ATCs and trading them locally, nationally, and internationally.

Artist Trading Cards are an interesting way to collect unique art miniatures, try some new techniques, and connect with artists at home and around the world through trading!
In this lively two hour workshop
·         You will learn how to make Artist Trading Cards  and create your first edition!
·         Participate in a trade with your class!
·         Receive  information on local trading groups and links to groups outside Denver, and in the U.S.
This is a great way to create art, meet others, share your work, and return home with handmade art treasures!

Process Painting

Free form process art painting
Art, like confidence, never comes from having all the answers. It comes from being open to all the questions.”   Earl Gray Stevens

Process Painting is a simple and direct way to experience your unique creativity and intuitive wisdom. Each of us has a longing to express ourselves creatively, though we have learned to value only what is perceived as “perfect”.   Suspend your judgment and self doubt, and investigate the mystery of creating in this Process Painting workshop.

Using the simplest materials – white paper and tempera paint – you will find there is no way to go wrong, no misstep, only the unfurling of the richness within you. Process Painting, like private journal writing, can aid your exploration and understanding of deep personal issues. In doing so, this process can support healing and transform your life. This spontaneous method can also “unblock” your creative flow, help you get rid of your preconceptions about art making, challenge your fears, and help you take risks!  All of this takes place in a supportive, non-judgmental, non-competitive environment.

Quiet encouragement and positive feedback will help you move along your creative path in this afternoon  Process Painting workshop. You need no previous art experience to enjoy this holistic, imaginative method of creating art.  I invite you to come along and play in the fertile fields of your imagination!

All art materials (paint, markers, paper, and brushes) will be supplied.  Dress comfortably and casually. Bring a paint smock  or old shirt  to protect your clothing.

Paper Doll Workshop

Do you remember Betsy McCall? Did you spend hours on Saturday afternoons cutting out paper dolls then dressing them in their fabulous outfits?  Well, paper dolls are making a comeback, and now is your chance to relive this pastime, by making contemporary paper dolls of your own!

In this fun and easy Paper Doll Workshop, using simple patterns as guides, you will be able to create beautiful paper dolls that are fast, creative, and one-of-a-kind! We will be making a serene folded doll which your imagination can quickly transform into a unique creation of your own. We will also make an articulated (movable) “classic” style paper doll. This doll may be completed with collage, by adding wings (angel doll), or dressing “as is” to create a traditional paper doll. Instructions for variations for all these dolls will be covered in this Paper Doll Workshop. All materials, including beautiful papers, stamps, yarn, ribbon, beads, etc. are included.

Bring a friend – or make some new ones – to  this unique Paper Doll Workshop.
