Basic Drawing
"I wanted to tell you THANK YOU! All of the drawings that I submitted to my Masters program were completed under your instruction and I firmly believe that without you I would not have applied to the school and would never have known that I was able to draw." Amina A. Denver, CO
Would you love to draw - but think you can only doodle? Can you draw a stick figure?
If you answered "yes" then you already have the beginning knowledge of drawing – line!

Join us in a series of 5 classes that will move you from doodles to drawing!
· Learn how to “see” objects as shapes, and how to “read” spaces.
· Practice the techniques of shading that will turn outlines into 3D forms.
· Learn how line can be used to create emotions and feelings in your drawings .

Basic Design

painted value study
Have you ever thought you would like to try your hand at art but are not sure where to begin?
Have you been doing art on your own but notice that your work lacks a focal point or seems be missing something but you are not sure what that "something" is?
Often the missing element in our art work is the knowledge and application of Basic Design elements. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, knowing the elements and principles of design, and then applying them to your own work will often move your art from ordinary to extraordinary! Seeing your art in terms of these basic design properties will allow you to integrate these elements and principles into your art and move forward to a new appreciation of what makes artwork memorable.
For the beginning artist this is a perfect way to start your work on the right foundation. Applying these elements and principles from the very start of your project will strengthen your designs and will help you to create art work that is more cohesive and visually satisfying. The elements and principles are easy concepts to understand, and with practice, to apply to your own work.
Basic Design is a series of 4 easy lessons that will open up the door for you to the foundations of art – the Principles and Elements of Design.
The Elements of Design include line, color, shape, form, value, and texture.
The Principles of Design include movement, unity, variety, balance, emphasis, contrast, proportion, and pattern.
Each week different Elements or Principles will be presented and you will quickly see how the Elements and Principles integrate to create a new level in your art.
You will have ample time to practice these concepts, build your own foundation of understanding, and create art that reflects your new knowledge.
Classes meet once per week by pre-arrangement for 4 weeks. Private lessons are also available.
These weekly classes are taught in a relaxed setting. Come join us for a fun way to learn the basics – Basic Design!
